This year I will be running this Program. It will be my team and I who are responsible for funding the school in Sri Lanka and raising the Capital fund so that we can build a school in Sri Lanka by 2012. This will be done through 4 main fundraising events, including selling sponsor a child cards for the 170 children who attend the school, fundraising at the QMUN conference, Capital fund raising dinner, and a non-uniform day. I will be in charge of a team of 30 and we will meet every Monday lunch to organize all the events and stay on track.
I believe this project will meet all the learning outcomes because it will increase my own awareness of my own strengths and areas for growth in leadership, organization, and will get to work in an environment similar to that in which I would like to work in when I enter the work force; NGOs, the United Nations ect.
I applied to be head for this position because the school in Sri Lanka, teaches students who other wise would not have access to compete economically and globally, the skills that they need to do so; linga-franca and technology. I am passionate to be a active member in this exchange and to offer whatever I can to theses children. I am also very passionate about Debate and organizing the ushers and being a member of the Doha Debates team is a very exciting opportunity for me. I am excited to see how far we can take this project and I’m positive that it will be a successful year, for us and our sister students.
